We Are Half way through the term!

So far so good. We have managed to get through the choas we call beginning of the year. 

A big welcome our new students and their families and our new teachers.

If you haven’t settled your term 1 account, please do this ASAP as new term 2 invoices will start to be sent out this week. As part of our enrolment, all lesson need to be paid in advanced unless on a plan.

New Teachers for 2024

Heather Davis – Singing | Flute (Wednesday & Thursdays)

Heather is the long standing Musical Director of the Bundeena Community Music Association, which comprises the Community Band, the Ramshackle Orkestra (an inclusive world music ensemble) and a jazz and swing choir. She is also the current Musical Director of the River Road Orchestra. She has been the Musical Director and driving force behind many musical projects, including the Casablanca Big Band, The Naked Horns, Sweet Amarillo to name a few. She is the previous Musical Director of the Menai Community Singers, the Phoenix Recovery Singers, and the Mulawa Womens choir. Heather worked extensively and for a long time with Jonathon Welch AM with the Choir of Hard Knocks, and the Sydney Street Choir. Previous projects Heather has worked on include being AMD for Pinchgut Opera and SGLCs production of The Fairy Queen.

Kiara Castagna – Singing (Mondays)

Kiara  is a vocal teacher. She has been singing for over 10 years now, and seeks to continually improve her musical skills and knowledge, by engaging in vocal and piano lessons, the Wollongong Conservatorium and attending summer workshops at the Australian Institute of Music. Kiara has gained experience as both as a solo and group performer, and her involvements range from busking, community performances, musicals, showcases and eisteddfods to performing with vocal ensembles.

Izaac Wasley – Guitar (Wednesdays & Thursdays)

Izaak is an Australian Institute of Music alumni completing his Bachelor of Music (Contemporary Performance)  through the Sydney Campus.

Since then he has been continuing his playing and performing of the guitar in various projects and groups since the completion of his studies (EROS Big Band, Short and Horny, SULT, Sammy Honeysett).

His journey started at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music where he learnt Classical Guitar from the age of 7, before diving into focussing his study to Contemporary Music and Jazz. While playing in large ensembles through the Conservatorium, this gave him the opportunity to play alongside specialists such as both the Morrison brothers (John Morrison and James Morrison), and Jazz Guitarist James Muller.

Mic Afternoons are back!

7th April 11am – 2pm @ Beaches Hotel

For those not familiar with our event. Students have the opportunity to get up on stage no matter what standard or level and perform in front a supportive crowd.

Mic Arvo @ The Academy is the perfect place for a fun afternoon out. Its a casual affair where you can come and go, or even better stay and enjoy what Beaches has to offer

Our students are talented and passionate about their music, drama and movement, so you’re guaranteed to have a great time.

Whether you’re a fan of classical or contemporary performance, we’ve got something for everyone.

If you or your child wishes to perform, speak to your teacher and also fill in this form.

Change to Make Up Policy

Due to the massive impact during 2023 regarding make up lessons financially and availability, we have reviewed the policy and outline the following;

  • Individual Lessons
    • 1 make up available per term with a minimum of 24hrs notice.
    • If lessons are missed for any other reason, we now have the App Practice Space where students in their own time will be provided with teacher video and written instructions and resources. Students can upload video and message the teacher to provide feedback.
  • Partner Lessons
    • No make ups are available unless there is another time where there is a vacancy. 
    • The teacher will use Practice Space where students in their own time will be provided with teacher video and written instructions and resources. Students can upload video and message the teacher to provide feedback.
  • Group Lessons
    • No make ups available unless there is another class available. 
    • All instructions, uploads and materials will be available in your web login.
